Mountain folks used to heal many diseases with their homemade medicine. Boiled water poured over the herbs, added moonshine, spirit, honey, garlic and tallow. Everyone had its own recipe, but they all called it Tea.
The origin of Tatra tea can be traced far back in Slovak history. Life was hard back then. People treasured every moment of meeting friends. They always cheered together with cup of something good, something strong.
The tourists loved its taste and enjoyed the traditional way of serving. Each chalet had its own recipe but they all called it Tatra tea.
As time passed, people and country have changed. But the Tea was always around. For the last 60 years you could find it in mountain chalets in the High Tatras as a special local drink.
The Tea hit the road to see world. People all around the globe are discovering the wide range of its flavours. It has many tastes but it is still the one – The TATRATEA.
In the year 2003 Tatra tea started its new life. We have created a bold new drink based on the best of all traditional recipes. It is made in Tatra distillery in Kežmarok.
